Celebrity DJs at London Clubs

Is it just me or are Lindsay Lohan and Samantha Ronson just a little bit annoying? OK, really annoying. As they flounce about London DJing at some of the capital’s best known celebrity haunts, there’s rarely a day that goes by when their photo isn’t plastered across the newspapers.
It’s been reported that Sam earns up to £70,000 a set if she brings Lindsay with her. Bargain! I guess, at least they’re actually DOING something, unlike Paris Hilton who was recently paid mega bucks just to go to clubs in and around London. Miss Ronson has DJd at some of our biggest clubs, including Cafe De Paris, Dolce …

Everyman Belsize Park

There’s nothing quite as depressing as a cinema that doesn’t care. Sticky floors, poor sound quality, 12-year-olds throwing Sugar Babies at your head – we’ve all been there. My latest cinema outing was slightly marred by a) the fact that I was one of two people in the theatre that wasn’t an usher and b) the very strong smell of feet – not mine, I checked.
However, I live in fear that one day my local cinema will realise that I’m the only one spending money there and close down – it’s cheap, it’s close and I can’t really complain. I’ll just grin, bear it and continue to pick sweeties out of my hair after films.

Hands up who can’t believe that Christmas is just over a month away? OK, OK, put your hands down, you’re embarrassing yourselves. But hey, it’s a shocker. Suddenly the shops are full of tatty trinkets, decorations and mince pies and the annoying ‘holidays are coming’ ad is back on TV. Surely it’s still February 2008 isn’t it? What happened to the year?
Still, despite the credit crunch and the pain that is hitting Westfield for several hours with pocket change, trying to make it stretch to everyone you have to buy presents for, there is a happy note to this year’s festive season. There are plenty of Christmas …

Food Markets in London

Unless you’ve been living under a rock lately you might have noticed that there’s a credit crunch well and truly underway. Personally I’ve noticed the price of food inching up slowly – sneaky, sneaky supermarkets! One of my favourite alternatives for food shopping is heading to food markets in London. Although big ones like Borough Market might be a bit pricier than normal when it comes to shopping for certain items, but there are loads of markets where you’ll spend less than certain supermarkets. Plus you can feel smug in knowing that you’ve supported local farmers and traders instead of a giant, faceless mega-supermarket. It always makes me feel a bit better, anyway.
But if you’re not quite as convinced as I am about the virtues …
